A Step-by-Step Guide

US Soccer D License Performance Center

What is a retest?
A retest is an additional attempt to earn a passing grade (green light) on the Final Training Session assignment.

What is the process?
Once a provisional status candidate registers for a retest:
Candidate will be reassessed on their original Final Training Session topic.
The candidate will develop a training session plan and submit it one-week prior to a pre-assigned instructor.

  • The instructor will provide feedback on the training session plan for the candidate to consider before the retest.
  • The candidate will execute the training session at a scheduled retest site.
  • The same criteria as the original course will be used for the assessment.

When can a candidate attend a retest?

Once a candidate receives a final score of Provisional Status at a course:

  • There is no waiting period.
  • Eligible candidates can attend any retest location.
  • Candidates are provided one (1) retest attempt
  • The candidate has a maximum of 12 months to attempt a retest, from the assessment date of the original course.
  • If the candidate receives a red light, or if the 12-month period expires, the candidate would be required to retake the entire course.
  • A no-show by a candidate will count as an official retest opportunity.

Please note that coaches who have received a "FAILING" score in a previous course will need to register and attend an entire "D" License course.

  • Must have completed a "D" course and received a Provisional "D" License.
  • Candidates meet face-to-face in person with instructors at a course

B) KIDSAFE Risk Management Program (For Legal Adults Only)

If you are 18 years old or older you will need to adhere to our KIDSAFE Risk Management Program. All legal adults must have their fingerprints cleared by the Department of Justice before they are allowed on the field with our youth. To complete this, you will need to download our live scan form which can be taken to any servicer. You can do a quick google search for "local live scan locations" and take your form to them. The cost will range anywhere from $15-$30. Keep your copy of the live scan form after the service is done until you have received an email confirmation that we have received your results. On average it takes from 1-14 days to receive results back from the Department of Justice. We will update your Cal South profile as soon as that clearance comes in.
