Cal South Coaching Education Program Overview

Over 150,000 coaches have attended Cal South licensing courses. The objective of the coaching licensing curriculum is to provide all soccer coaches, from the beginner to the advanced, with up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge, so that coaches in Southern California can help ensure that players develop towards their fullest potential.

Designed to meet the needs of today's modern grassroots soccer coach, Cal South fully supports the New US Soccer Coaching Curriculum as they have established a comprehensive Coaching Education Program that offers our staff the opportunity to teach the U.S. Soccer Federation (US Soccer)-approved curriculum for the 4v4, 7v7, 9v9 and 11v11 Age appropriate coaching game models and also the US Soccer National "D" license and National “C” course.

The following are the mandatory required license levels to register as a Cal South coach

  • U.S Soccer National 4v4 (Under 8)

• Valuable information and current coaching trends state-wide, nationally, and internationally

The Philosophy of the Coaching Education Program

To help you gain the most information from the courses, National staff coaches teach the essentials of soccer in an optimal way. All candidates can choose to participate actively in field sessions if needed.

Two-hours of each age game model 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, 11v11 is comprised of field sessions and the remaining two hours are lectures. Candidates will be asked to help schedule youth players for all courses this will alleviate the need for candidates participating in the field sessions. The higher the course, the more hours required.

A minimum of 15 participants must be pre-registered for any course at least five days prior to the start of the class; otherwise, the course will be canceled.
