Some notable events coming up soon in the local and national college soccer scene:

  • The NCAA Women's and Men's Championship soccer tournaments are in full swing with Cal South alums participating throughout the U.S. In Women's Division I, they are in the Round of Sixteen with two Southern California teams still fighting for the championship. UCLA plays at Stanford on Friday and UCI plays at home against University of Washington on Saturday. Bracket link is http://www.ncaa.com/brackets/2010/ncaa_bracket_DI_soccer_women.html.

    UCI welcomes all Cal South members to come support the Anteaters in their match against Washington. Several Cal South alumni appear on the rosters of both teams, so come on out and support some of our homegrown talent. The game is Saturday, November 20 at 6PM at Anteater Stadium on the UCI campus. Tickets for the game are available at the gate or at the UCI ticket office. Adults are $10 and kids up to 17 are $5. Tickets can be purchased by phone at 949.824.5000 and held at will call. A $5 processing fee per order will be charged.

  • In Division II women's soccer, UC San Diego is in the round of 16 against Seattle Pacific and will play in Austin, TX on Thursday 11/18. And in Division III, Redlands plays Hardin-Simmons in a round of sixteen game on Friday, 11/19.

  • The NCAA announced the Men's Division I bracket earlier this week. 48 teams will be vying for the right to compete at the 2010 NCAA Men's College Cup December 10 and 12 in Santa Barbara, California, at Meredith Field at Harder Stadium. The University of California, Santa Barbara, will host the championship for the first time. Southern California is represented by UCLA and UC Santa Barbara.

  • In Division II, Cal State Chico is the only west coast team still in the tournament. They play a quarter final game on Saturday, November 20 at home against Midwestern State. And in Division III, the team from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps fell to Texas-Tyler 1-0 in the first round.
