US Youth Soccer to Hold National Youth License Coaching Course
in Laguna Niguel in February

(Fullerton, CA) -- US Youth Soccer will present a National Youth Coaching Course in beautiful Laguna Niguel from February 20-24, 2013.

The U.S. Soccer National Youth License, delivered by US Youth Soccer, is one of the five courses currently offered in the National Coaching Schools. The "Y" License is a "terminal-level" license in that there is not another license offered beyond it. In this sense it is the "A" License of coaching youth soccer.

The National Youth License course is one the most important coaching course provided in this country. The course curriculum focuses on the nature of children and the adjustments adults must make to coach them. During these years, coaches help create the foundation for future participation in the sport at all levels. Therefore this course is crucial for the future of soccer in our country.

"You will get more information from this course about how to coach U6-U12 players both on and off the field than from any other course offered," said Cal South Director of Coaching and Player Development Steve Hoffman. "It really is the best and most informative course I have ever attended. I would love to see all Directors of Coaching go to the course, as it will be of immense help to them."

The course combines both classroom (theory) and field (practical) sessions. Each day of the course focuses on one of the traditional soccer age groups…U6, U8, U10 or U12. Each day, the coaching candidates work with children of the appropriate age group and are videotaped for later review and evaluation by the instructional staff. The course concludes with written, oral and practical field examinations, as well as a short state instructor's course.

Note: "A" License coaches who take this course should be aware that it counts as 8 CEUs (Continued Education Units) and also renews their USSF "A" license for another five years. This course is limited to the first thirty registered coaches.
