March 1, 2013 (Frisco, TX) - 9:00 p.m. update - All four Cal South Pro+/ODP teams moved on to Sunday's finals round after winning their first round matches at the 2013 US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships, being held this weekend, March 1-3 in Frisco, Texas. Cal South's four teams represent both the boys and girls in the 1996 and 1997 age groups.

Cal South's 1997 Girls shut out Michigan, 5-0 in an early afternoon match, and will now face Eastern New York at 8:30 a.m. (CT) on Sunday morning. Cal South's Kathleen Pingel had a pair of goals to lead all scorers in her group. Andrew Garcia also had a pair of goals as he led Cal South's 1997 boys to a 2-2 overtime knot with Virginia, which ended with Cal South leading in PKs, 4-2. They now move to Sunday's 8:00 a.m. final against Florida.

The 1996 Boys of Cal South got past North Carolina, 1-0 on a goal from Michael Licon to move to Sunday's final, where they will face Eastern Pennsylvania at 10:00 a.m. In the Girls 1996 opening match, Cal South took down New Jersey, 4-1 on a pair of goals from Hailey Harbison, and additional goals by Kaitlin Klawunder and Indigo Gibson. Cal South will next face Indiana in the 10:30 final on Sunday morning.

State-level US Youth Soccer ODP boys and girls teams in the 1996 and 1997 age groups qualified for the US Youth Soccer ODP National Championships by winning their respective age group at the US Youth Soccer ODP Regional Championships.
