July 10, 2012 (Fullerton, CA) - UPDATE: The Cal South Board of Directors announced today the final subsidy quantities which will be donated to each of the Cal South teams attending the three upcoming national championship events. Fifteen Cal South youth teams will each receive a subsidy of $6,000 to help them with their traveling expenses in attending either the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina (July 24-29) or the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Sacramento, California (July 12-15). Two Cal South adult teams will each receive a total subsidy of $3,000 to aid in their expenses for attending the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Cups Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky (July 15-17). The two adult teams will also each receive additional subsidies of upwards of $5,000 directly from the USASA. [A full listing of all 17 Cal South teams attending these events appears below this article.] Overall, Cal South has now provided subsidies and entry fee payments of over $257,000 in 2012 to its Affiliate Member teams, youth and adult, which advanced to the regional and national competitions being held this summer. Earlier in the year, the Cal South Board of Directors agreed to set aside a portion of its approved annual budget for these donations, along with additional funding to be allocated towards paying the entry fees to the regional and national championships for these series. The number of teams advancing from the regional to national level determined the final amount of the national attendance allocations. The quantities for the adult teams attending regional and national competitions were arrived at on a separate motion. The annual Cal South team subsidies are discretionary in nature and based upon the success and affiliate member support of the State and National Cup events..
