June 15, 2012 (Fullerton, CA) - The Cal South Board of Directors has announced that the organization will provide over $150,000 in subsidies and entry fee payments to its Affiliate Member teams, youth and adult, advancing to regional competition series this summer.

At their monthly meeting on May 5, 2012, the Board of Directors discussed the distribution of monetary support to teams advancing through the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Series and the United States Adult Soccer Association National Cups Series.

A motion was passed to provide a subsidy of $3,500 to each team attending the 2012 US Youth Far West Regional Championships in Phoenix, Arizona (June 18-24) and the 2012 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup in Arvada, Colorado (June 13-17), which gained their spots as either State Cup or National Cup champions or were chosen as wild cards prior to the date of the board meeting. The amount of $3,500 was also allocated to the three adult teams from Cal South which attended the USASA Region IV National Cups Finals and the first round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Teams attending the Far West Regionals due to their success in the Far West Regional League will receive $1,000 per team. The Board of Directors also agreed that Cal South would cover the payment of the $500 per team entry fees for all of its teams attending the regional and national championships.

Overall, 37 Cal South youth and adult teams will receive checks for $3,500 and 11 youth teams will receive $1,000 each for attending the regional events, which does not include the $500 per team entry fees paid by Cal South directly to US Youth Soccer.

"Our teams have worked hard to advance to this year's regional competitions. We are proud of their accomplishment and pleased to support their continuing effort toward a National Championship," said Cal South President Johnnie Garza. "On behalf of our Board of Directors and our entire Cal South family, we wish them continued success in their pursuit of excellence in Denver and Phoenix."

The annual Cal South team subsidies are discretionary in nature and based upon the success and affiliate member support of the State and National Cup events. Teams that successfully advance from the regional events will earn their spot at the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina, the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Sacramento, California, and the USASA National Cup Finals in Chicago, Illinois. All three championship events will be held in July.
