We have started registration for the 2014 year. We are no longer having 2013 registration courses. Cal South recently launched a new Online Registration system which will make registration easier.

All referees that are returning, new or upgrading MUST use this system to register, pay their USSF registration fee and sign up for a course online.

Returning referees, please note: This does not complete your registration. Make sure to read below the "2013 Renewal Instructions" to know what your grade level annual requirements are. Your registration will be processed after you complete your re-certification clinic. Referees (grade 8, 9, 15 & 16) no longer need to mail any renewal paperwork to the Cal South Office. All referees grade 7, 6, 5 or upgrading referees MUST email their renewal paperwork in a PDF format to refereeregistration@calsouth.com or faxed to 714-441-0715.

See below for a step by step online registration instructional video.
This system works best with Internet Explorer web browser for PCs. For MAC users, please try using Safari.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY GONE THROUGH THE ONLINE SYSTEM & PAID YOUR USSF FEES AND NEED TO SIGN-UP FOR A RE-CERTIFICATION CLINIC. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE ONLINE SYSTEM AGAIN, THE SYSTEM WILL ASK FOR ANOTHER PAYMENT. INSTEAD CLICK HERE. YOU WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE STEPS AGAIN TO REGISTER FOR A RE-CERTIFICATION CLINIC BUT THERE IS NO PAYMENT AT THE END.

The current 2013 registration period runs from September 1, 2012 and has ended. Each years badge is valid from January 1 thru December 31 of that year.

The fees paid online cover the USSF registration fee which is needed annually for all referees to renew. DO NOT SUBMIT PAYMENT ONLINE THROUGH THE US SOCCER WEBSITE.

With the new online system the registration process to receive a referee's badge and ID card has changed. The process is a follows:
Cal South will process your registration approximately 3 weeks after the date of your re-certification clinic. It will then be forwarded to U.S. Soccer for completion and mailing of your badge and ID Card. U.S. Soccer's time frame for mailing these items is 4-6 weeks.

ONCE REGISTERED, YOUR NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE
REGISTERED OFFICIALS LIST.

2013 Annual Referee Renewal Fees

2013 RENEWAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Referees who want to maintain/renew their current grade must attend a re-certification clinic and complete in-service training hours annually to re-certify. The in-service hours are accumulated by attending a 5-hour re-certification class, attending the monthly instructional meetings with their referee association or attending online webinars at www.refereeinstructiononline.com. The webinars are currently available to Grade 8 referees only. If the attended re-certification class is not 5 hours long, then those referees will only receive one credit hour towards their in-service training hours.

Grade 8 & 9 referees must complete 5 hours of in-service training and take the refresher exam at a re-cert clinic.

Grade 7 referees must complete 8 hours of in-service training, take the refresher exam at a re-cert clinic and complete a physical fitness test.

Grade 6 referees must complete 8 hours of in-service training, take the refresher exam at a re-cert clinic, complete a physical fitness test and one maintenance assessment as a referee U19 or higher.

Grade 5 referees must complete 8 hours of in-service-training, take the refresher exam at a re-cert clinic, complete a physical fitness test and one maintenance assessment as a referee Adult Division 1 or higher.

Active Emeritus Grade 15 & 16 or National Emeritus Grade 13 must complete 5 hours of in-service training and take the State refresher exam at a re-cert clinic.

Inactive Emeritus that has not been active during the season DOES NOT have to do the in-service training and re-cert clinic.

Referees requesting to go Emeritus for 2013 must submit a note stating this. The referee must have held a grade 5 or 6 for a minimum of 3 years prior to the request.

RISK MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENT
In order to officiate youth games, all Cal South referees age 18 and up must be Live Scanned to comply with Cal South Kidsafe Risk Management Program. It can take up to 14 business days to get approval back from the California Department of Justice. A referee age 18 and older cannot get any youth game assignments until this is approved. To download the form and a listing of Live Scan sites in your area, please click here. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Wolfs at lwolfs@calsouth.com.

Failure to include all required documents in order to maintain your current grade will result in the downgrading of your referee grade.
