Fitness Test / Upgrade
 

Physical Fitness Test:

A physical fitness test is required for registration, annual renewal and upgrading for referee grade 7 and grades 5 & 6. Referees at the grade level above must take a fitness test annually to maintain their current grade.

The annual maintenance requirements for a grade 7 and grade 5 & 6:

In service training: 5 hours (grade 7) and 10 hours (grade 5 & 6) during the preceding 12 months.
Refresher exam: Passing score of 85% (grade 7), 75% (grade 6) & 85% (grade 5) is required.
Field Evaluation: 1 developmental assessment (U19 or higher) grade 6, (Adult Division 1 or higher) grade 5.
Physical Fitness Test: Required (with passing score) the test consists of:

Endurance - 12 minute run (Under age 38; minimum distance: 2200 meters = approximately 5-1/2 laps).
Speed Test - 50 meter dash (run once) under age 46 minimum time is 9 seconds.
200 meter dash - (run once) all ages; minimum time: 40 seconds; approximately 1/2 a lap.

Upgrade Process:

Any referee interested in upgrading from their current grade must complete the following:

• Register for the upgrade clinic online. Upgrade clinics are offered two times each year in June and November or as needed. At the upgrade clinic you can complete the physical fitness test and written exam. To register for an upgrade clinic click here.
• Pass the written exam : passing score of 85% for grade 8 to 7 and grade 6 to 5, passing score of 75% for grade 7 to 6.
• Complete the physical fitness test.
• Pass the required number of field evaluations:

- Grade 8 going to grade 7: one center (U17 or higher)
- Grade 7 going to grade 6: three total: two centers (one U17 or higher and one adult Division 2 or higher) one AR (U17 or higher)
- Grade 6 going to grade 5: three total: two centers and one AR (all at top adult Division 1 or higher)
