PSA Elite and Cal FC advance to US Open Cup
Region IV tournament completes US Open Cup field

May 7, 2012 (Ontario, CA) - With the conclusion of the Region IV tournament this past weekend, the Lamar Hunt Open Cup bracket is set. Two Southern California teams, Cal FC and PSA Elite, finished group play undefeated and joined the rest of the Open Cup field.

Cal FC, managed by former US National team all-time leading scorer Eric Wynalda, took out last year's qualifier, Doxa Italia, 4-3 after taking a 4-0 lead. They finished group play with a +11 goal differential.

PSA Elite knocked out Region IV's other qualifier, DV8 Defenders, 3-0 and went on to complete a weekend clean sheet. They defeated Pittsburg Galaxy 6-0, tied OC Crew 0-0, and then defeated Cal FC in the championship game 2-0.

Both teams will head north for first round play. The schedule information for their next matches are as follows:

1st Round matches on Tuesday, May 15th:

PSA Elite (USASA) at Portland Timbers U-23s (PDL)
Jeld-Wen Field; Portland, Ore. - 7:30 p.m. PT

Cal FC (USASA) at Kitsap Pumas (PDL)
Bremerton Memorial Stadium; Bremerton, Wash. - 7:15 p.m. PT
