10 CAL SOUTH CLUBS NAMED TO SOCCER AMERICA’S TOP 30 LISTS FOR 2010
December 09, 2010

December 9, 2010 - Ten Cal South clubs - six girls and four boys clubs - were honored by Soccer America this week as the magazine announced its annual lists of the Top 30 youth soccer clubs in America.

Four of the ten Cal South clubs were named to the Top 10 in their respective genders: LAFC (#3 boys club), So Cal Blues (#3 girls club), Arsenal FC (#8 girls club) and San Diego Surf (#10 girls club).

The most important criteria for determining "Soccer America's Top 30 youth rankings" was success in the US Youth Soccer National Championships during a three-year cycle (2008-2010) and the number of players who went on to U.S. Soccer National Teams and were selected to US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program rosters. This is the eighth year that Soccer America has announced these rankings.

"Selecting America's annual youth rankings has become very difficult because of the increasing quality we're seeing in all parts of the country and the range of playing opportunities available for players," said Paul Kennedy, editor in chief and general manager of Soccer America. "The most important criteria for our rankings is success in US Youth Soccer National Championships, which have also expanded to include additional top teams of the US Youth Soccer National League."
