CAL & UCLA VICTORIES MOVE THEM TO ROUND OF SIXTEEN IN 2010 NCAA MEN'S COLLEGE CUP

LOCAL COLLEGE SOCCER ROUND-UP

November 22, 2010 - Some updates from this past weekend's playoff college soccer matches involving teams from local schools. The NCAA Men's College Cup Semi-finals and Finals will be held in Santa Barbara on Dec. 10 & 12, 2010.

Men's Division I
Cal defeated UCSB 2-1 in the last minute of the first overtime on a golden goal. Cal advances to the NCAA Men's College Cup Round of Sixteen to face off against Brown. Also advancing to the Round of Sixteen is UCLA, who notched a solid 4-1 win over Sacramento State. They continue the "Pac-10 vs. Ivy League" theme with a game against Dartmouth. Men's Division II
Cal State Chico was knocked out in a quarterfinal match with Midwestern State by the score of 5-0.

Women's Division I
In Round of 16 play in the NCAA Women's College Cup, UC Irvine's most successful season ever came to an end via a goal in the second overtime by University of Washington. UCLA also dropped out of the running with a 3-0 loss to number one-seeded Stanford.

Women's Division II
UC San Diego scored a 1-0 quarterfinal victory over Seattle Pacific. They advance to a semi-final match against St. Rose College of Albany, New York on Thursday, December 2.
