Des Moines, IA (July 10, 2011) - UPDATE 10:30 AM PT - Cal South's BU14 Corona Eagles, GU14 United FC White and BU15 AVSC Ambush were crowned as champions today at the 2011 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Des Moines, Iowa. The National Presidents Cup was held at James W. Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines, Iowa from July 7-10. Preliminary matches took place from Thursday through Saturday, with each team in each age bracket playing three matches.
Championship and consolation matches for all eight age brackets were played today. Cal South had five teams taking part in the 2011 National Presidents Cup, who collected ten wins, four draws and only one loss through the three days of the preliminary action, and took part in five of the eight championship matches.
Cal South's teams earned their spots in the National Presidents Cup by winning titles at the 2011 US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup last month in West Jordan, Utah. The Presidents Cup Finals features teams from 17 other states besides California. Cal South teams won two National Presidents Cup titles last year, and one in the inaugural year of the event in 2009.
