July 5, 2011 (Fullerton, CA) - DONATION UPDATE: The Cal South Board of Directors recently announced the final subsidy quantities which will be donated to each of the Cal South teams attending upcoming national championship events.

Eleven Cal South youth teams will each receive a subsidy of $7,272 to help them with their traveling expenses in attending either the 2011 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Phoenix, Arizona (July 26-31) or the 2011 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Des Moines, Iowa (July 7-10). Four Cal South adult teams will each receive a total subsidy of $3000 to aid in their expenses for attending the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Cups Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky (July 15-17). The four adult teams will also each receive a subsidy of $5,000 directly from the USASA.

All told, Cal South has now provided subsidies and entry fee payments of over $300,000 in total to its Affiliate Member teams, youth and adult, which advanced to the regional and national competitions being held this summer. At a special meeting held on May 19, 2011, the Cal South Board of Directors agreed to set aside $260,000 in its approved annual budget for these donations, along with an additional $30,000 to be allocated towards paying the entry fees to both the regional and national championships for the two series. $170,000 of the total went towards regional competition attendance, while the remaining $90,000 was set aside for eventual allocation for the national competitions. The number of teams advancing from the regional to national level determined the final amount of the national attendance allocations. The quantities for the adult teams attending regional and national competitions were arrived at on a separate motion.
