Sacramento, CA (June 7, 2011) - Men's teams from PSA Elite and the San Diego Surf were named as champions on Sunday at the 2011 United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region IV National Cups, which was held in Sacramento from June 3-5 last weekend.
The San Diego Surf won the Men's Over 30 bracket at the competition with a decisive 3-0 shutout of the Capitol Hill Rowdies from Washington. The Men's Amateur bracket was won by PSA Elite, who topped Lazio of Utah, 3-1.
Two weekends earlier in May, Doxa Italia captured the USASA Region IV Men's Open title, which not only earned Doxa a berth in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup opening round, but also gave Cal South a total of four teams which will be competing at the USASA National Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The July 15-17 event will also include Cal South's U23 Eagles SC women's team, who will be attempting to collect their record fifth age-specific national championship trophy. The Eagles won three national championships as a youth team, and won last year's U23 crown.
