Date: Saturday, July 31, 2010
Los Angeles, CA (July 6, 2010) - Cal South and the LA84 Foundation have announced that registration is now open for "Goalkeeping & Finishing: Take Your Players to the Next Level," the latest entry in their annual series of specialty coaching clinics. This year's clinic will be held on Saturday, July 31 at Sullivan Field on the campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. A non-refundable $25 deposit will secure a spot in the clinic, which is limited to the first 100 registered applicants.
The clinicians for the course will be Trevor James and Joe Mallia. Trevor James is the Director of Player Development and an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Galaxy, and is now the Galaxy's longest tenured coach, currently in the middle of his fourth season with the team. Joe Mallia is the head coach of women's soccer at Loyola Marymount University, where his winning percentage over his first three seasons (.632) is the highest among the four coaches who have held that position. Mallia also spent two successful seasons as an assistant coach at UCLA, and previous to that he held the head coach position for seven seasons at Loyola in Maryland.
Both James and Mallia will also take part in a panel discussion at the end of the course with Cal South Director of Coaching and Player Development Steve Hoffman, where they will discuss what can be learned by coaches from the 2010 World Cup competition. The full schedule and details for the course, as well as links to full biographies of both of our clinicians, appear below.
