|Cal South Donates An Additional $96,000 to 17 Teams Bound for National Championship Events|
Over $257,000 (including Tournament Fees) Donated by Cal South Overall in 2012
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE July 7, 2012 (Fullerton, CA) - The Cal South Board of Directors announced today the final subsidy quantities which will be donated to each of the Cal South teams attending the three upcoming national championship events.
Fifteen Cal South youth teams will each receive a subsidy of $6,000 to help them with their traveling expenses in attending either the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina (July 24-29) or the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Sacramento, California (July 12-15).
Two Cal South adult teams will each receive a total subsidy of $3,000 to aid in their expenses for attending the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Cups Finals in Bowling Green, Kentucky (July 15-17). The two adult teams will also each receive additional subsidies of upwards of $5,000 directly from the USASA.

|Swansea City AFC and VC Fusion Team Up with Cal South Coaches Association to Present "Behind the Scenes at an EPL Club" Specialty Clinic Event|
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE July 12, 2012 (Fullerton, CA) - The Cal South Coaches Association, in partnership with Swansea City Association Football Club of the Barclays® (English) Premier League and the Ventura County Fusion of the PDL, will host a specialty coaching education event at Oxnard College in Oxnard, California on July 27-28, 2012.
Titled "Behind the Scenes at an EPL Club," the two-day program will consist of several sessions targeted to give registered participants a unique chance to understand what it takes to coach, train and play in one of the most revered soccer leagues in the world. Field training sessions on both days will take place at Oxnard College, while classroom sessions will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ventura.
The clinic will be held in conjunction with Swansea's international exhibition appearance against the Ventura County Fusion on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Oxnard College Stadium. The cost for the event will be $100 for Cal South Coaches Association members and $200 for non-members. Each registration will also include a shared one night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ventura, CA on Friday, July 27th, 2012.

Coaches who have yet to join the Cal South Coaches Association, but are interested in taking advantage of the lower event cost for members, should be aware that a membership to the Coaches Association only costs $50 a coach, and also gains them a year's membership into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America at the same time (itself an $85 value). Historic James P. McGuire Cup (BU19) Match to Be Televised on Fox Soccer, July 28, 5pm PT
Live scoring updates will be featured next week on www.CalSouth.com for the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina from July 25-29.
Cal South has ten teams taking part in the event. Six teams gained their spots through their success at the 2012 US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Phoenix in June: BU14 Santa Barbara SC White, GU14 Beach FC, BU15 Fullerton Rangers, BU16 Arsenal FC, BU19 West Coast FC and GU19 So Cal Blues. Three more gained their spots through their success in the 2012 US Youth Soccer National League competition: GU15 Legends FC, GU16 Legends FC and GU17 Legends FC. The tenth team - GU17
Legends Breakaway - won a Far West Regional title this year, but will enter the competition instead as a National League representative. (Their Far West Regional slot was given to another team.)
Cal South has won 24% of all National Championship trophies (32 out of 132) given out since 2001 when the U14 and U15 brackets were added to the competition. The BU15 Fullerton Rangers are hoping to repeat their success from last year's National Championships when they won the BU14 title. The oldest youth sports trophy still being awarded, the James P. McGuire Cup, dates back to 1935 and is given to the champion of the Boys Under 19 bracket at the US Youth Soccer National Championships. This year's BU19 final match will be televised by Fox Soccer Channel on Saturday, July 28 at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Check your local television listings for channel and availability..
|Cal South Teams Capture 4 out of 8 US Youth National Presidents Cup Titles in Sacramento
Cal South has now won 31% of total titles (10 of 32) through first 4 years of competition
Cal South teams captured four out of eight championship trophies on Sunday morning, July 15 at the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Sacramento, California. Cal South had all five of its participating teams taking part in the day's finals matches. GU14 NC Boca (who won 1-0 in overtime over North Carolina), BU15 FC Golden State White, GU16 Platinum FC and IUSC Brasil Coachella all took home National Presidents Cup trophies. The U16 boys of LA Premier FC Black
went 2-2 through overtime against North Texas' United Strikers, but lost a heartbreaker via penalty kicks, 3-4.
Cal South has now won 10 National Presidents Cup titles overall in the four years the competition has been held, which accounts for 31% of all titles in the tournament (10 of 32). San Juan Capistrano (July 30-August 3), Long Beach (August 13-17), and a four-day evening camp in Yucaipa (July 30-August 2) are still accepting players at all levels in the U8-U14 age groups. |Good Standing Full Mid-Year Review for Affiliate Member Leagues and Clubs is Underway
As a continuance of the "Good Standing" policy, a mid-year full review of the Affiliate Member Criteria is in progress. The review will consist of status updates on Financial, Corporate, 501(c)(3) Determinations, Risk Management, the 5-team requirement, VIP updates, as well as Rules and Regulations.
Cal South Bylaw Article IV, Section 5. Members in Good Standing, states that "An Affiliate Member shall be deemed in Good Standing only when it meets all of the criteria for Good Standing as may be set forth in a resolution by the Board from time-to-time." On July 23, 2011, the Cal South Board of Directors adopted a resolution, which formalizes these criteria for all Affiliate Members.
This policy outlines how an Affiliate Member maintains their good standing, a fair notification period and the process and appeal rights of a member prior to any loss of privileges and membership. |Registrars: Got Cards? Member Pass Card Stock for 2012-2013 Season Has Been Mailed
The 2012-2013 Cal South card stock has been mailed out to over 240+ Affiliate Members. The distribution formula was based on the 2011-2012 fall, spring, and summer accepted player/admin applications with an additional 25% increase for growth and damage. This will be your allotment for the entire 2012-2013 seasonal year unless other supporting factors are involved. If you need additional cards, please feel free to submit your request to LAMSupport@calsouth.com.
|Roster Freeze Period Begins for Fall 2012-2013 Season on July 31, 11:59 p.m.|
The roster freeze period starts July 31, 11:59 p.m. through the first Monday after Thanksgiving. Essentially, team rosters will be frozen to all but new players and those granted a "waiver." It is important before teams are activated that that all players are correctly assigned to your team and are fully committed to the 2012-2013 season with that team. As an additional tip, please have your coaches and team manager's review their team roster via the Cal South

|Player Registration Deadline is September 1st for Fall 2012 Season|
This is a friendly reminder that the September 1 deadline for registration is just around the corner. On September 1, an additional $4.00 will be added to the registration fee for recreational players. Please contact the Cal South Corporate Office if you need further information regarding the late registration fee.
