Early Bird Discount Rates for National Cup & State Cup End in One Week

Registration is now open for the 2012 Cal South National Cup and the 2012 Sports Authority State Cup. The cost for teams entering the National Cup is $745. The Sport Authority State Cup is once again split into two separate divisions: Governors and Presidents. Teams applying to take part in the Presidents Division pay a $665 entry fee, while those applying for the Governors Division pay $565 per team.
Early bird discounts are still available for those teams which register and fully pay by October 14, 2011. Rates will go up by $70 per team registration on October 15:

All league and club tournament directors should be aware that October 14, 2011 is the final deadline to submit applications for tournaments that are to appear in the 2012 Cal South Tournament Guide. All tournaments sanctioned by mid-November will be listed in the Tournament Guide, and options for additional advertising
• October 14 | Eligible for approval at the November meeting (this is the last chance for inclusion in the 2012 Cal South Tournament Guide)
• October 31 | Eligible for approval at the December meeting (no late application fee, but will not be published in the Tournament Guide)
TOURNAMENTS MUST BE SANCTIONED BY MID-NOVEMBER IN ORDER TO APPEAR IN THE TOURNAMENT GUIDE
The Tournament Guide Insertion Order is available for download here, and has been emailed to all Cal South tournament directors. If you have already sanctioned your tournament(s) for 2012, then your next deadline is to get your Tournament Guide Insertion Order sent in to the Cal South Corporate Office by November 11, 2011.

The Cal South Awards Banquet, Cal South's annual celebration of the incredible accomplishments of its members and volunteers, will come alive just after the lights have gone down on Soccer Nation Expo 2012 on Saturday, February 25 at the JW Marriott at L.A. Live. Dinner and awards will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with cocktails beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Cal South is proud to announce that it will be holding a State-Hosted National Spanish "C" Course in Ventura, California on December 7-11, 15-18, 2011. Spots in this course are going fast and will not be offered again until 2014. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have held the National "D" License for a minimum of 12 months. The course cost will be $450 for commuters and $650 for non-commuters, which includes seven nights' stay at La Quinta
Inn in Ventura, CA. This course will be taught in Spanish.
Coaches will interact with the nation's top-level instructors, including current and former national team, professional and international coaches. The licensing programs are focused on teaching soccer coaches up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge to provide coaches with the ability to improve the everyday training environment for elite players and help them fulfill their potential as international, professional, collegiate or youth soccer players.

Policy went into full effect on October 1, 2011
Following the "Good Standing" policy for Affiliate Members going into effect as of October 1, notifications were sent out on October 6 to any Affiliate Member leagues or clubs that have not remained in compliance with the policy.
Cal South Bylaw Article IV, Section 5. Members in Good Standing, states that "An Affiliate Member shall be deemed in Good Standing only when it meets all of the criteria for Good Standing as may be set forth in a resolution by the Board from time-to-time." On July 23, 2011, the Cal South Board of Directors adopted a resolution which formalizes this criteria for all Affiliate Members.
This policy outlines how an Affiliate Member maintains their good standing, a fair notification period and the process and appeal rights of a member prior to any loss of privileges and membership. This policy in its entirety went into effect on October 1, 2011, and can be found on the Cal South website by clicking here.

Please note that there have been some important changes to the Youth Soccer Insurance policy:
• The League/Club President verification signature is required to process the Youth Insurance Claim Questionnaire.
• Youth insurance claims for members with primary insurance are subject to a $500 deductible
· Youth insurance claims for members without primary insurance are subject to a $1000 deductible.
Still effective: A valid social security number is mandatory for any Soccer Accident Claim process to begin.
