The Cal South Board of Directors, at their regular meeting on April 3, 2010, called for a special meeting of the membership to be held on June 5, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Cal South Corporate Office, to execute the required vote of the members to amend the association's Articles of Incorporation.

The amendment is a corporate name change from California Youth Soccer Association - South (CYSA-South) to California State Soccer Association - South (Cal South). The impetus of the name change is a result of Cal South being appointed as a joint (youth & adult) state association by the US Soccer Federation in March 2009.

ALL APPLICATIONS THAT WERE NOT COMPLETED BY APRIL 15TH ARE NOW CONSIDERED DELINQUENT. DON'T COMPRISE YOUR LEAGUES STANDING!
A late fee of $100.00 will now be applied to all delinquent league application submissions.
The Youth League Application remains open to all leagues that have not submitted a youth league application. Youth League Applications had to be completed by April 15, 2010. The application process was recently made available online, but leagues needing to begin the process are asked to click here first in order to review several helpful documents that should help them complete the process smoothly. There is also a link on that page which will take the league representative to the online Youth League Application site where they will be asked to create a user account to log in to the system. If you are already set to begin the process, you can click here to go to the Youth League Application site directly.

On that note, many leagues have already started the new online application process but have fallen short of completing the process in its entirety. Because the process requires exact and detailed information, it is vital that that all requirements are met, otherwise a delay in the final processing of your Youth League Application may occur. For additional information, click on the links above, or if you have further questions, please contact the Cal South League Account Management department.

ALL REFEREES, 18 AND OLDER, MUST COMPLETE THE RISK MANAGEMENT
PROCESS BEFORE JUNE 1, 2010

A Must If You Wish to Referee Games for the 2010-2011 Season
Please Allow 14 Days from Time of Fingerprinting for the California Department of Justice to Clear You By June 1st
All Cal South referees, 18 and older, must have their Risk Management process completed before June 1st of 2010 in order to be able to referee any youth games within Cal South. These referees should consider that it can take up to 14 days for approval of their Live Scan fingerprinting to come back from the California Department of Justice. Referees are advised to get their Live Scan done with these 14 days built into their schedule, since the June 1st deadline is the date by which approval must be received from the California Department of Justice. The deadline date should not be considered as the last day one can get fingerprinted. Doing so will leave you out of refereeing for the coming season.

The deadline date of June 1st was put into place after careful consideration between the State Referee Committee (SRC) and the Cal South Board of Directors. There will be no exceptions after this date. For all referees who will turn 18 before or after the deadline date, you will have 90 days from the date you turn 18 to complete your Risk Management. If you are a minor or about to turn 18, please do not get your Live Scan done, as the Department of Justice will not accept your Live Scan until you have actually turned 18, and then you will have to complete the process again.

If you have already gone through the Live Scan process as a coach or for other administrative roles and would like to check your status, or if you have any other questions regarding Risk Management and Live Scan, you can contact Lisa Wolfs at 714.451.1520 or lwolfs@calsouth.com .

CCAAP - CAMPS, CLINICS AND ACADEMY PROGRAMS
Get engaged with CCAAP: THE Gateway to a Successful Soccer Season!
Now that the fall 2009-2010 season is ended, many leagues are busily working on seasonal registration operations such as the spring, summer and the impending fall 2010-2011 seasons! Within that vein of activity, we are also focusing our efforts on programs that are typified as non-traditional programs such as clinics, camps, and academies.

These programs are quite diverse, but encompass activities that should be incorporated into the registration process. CCAAP (Camps, Clinics and Academy Programs), as we aptly named these play types, can now be captured easily and affordably within the standard registration process that you are already familiar with today. This proactive measure is chiefly to avoid any potential problems in key areas such as KidSafe and personal injury. In addition, these key programs, among others, help strengthen and insure best protection practices for our membership.

To learn more about CCAAP, please click here . If you have questions about CCAAP, please contact the League Account Management department at 714.451.1513.
