New Coaching Education Courses Have Been Posted!
LA84 Foundation Connection Reaps Huge Benefits for Cal South Coaches

The LA84 Foundation has extended its partnership with Cal South for 2008, with over 40 new courses scheduled through the summer. While the courses are largely subsidized due to this partnership, because space is limited, a deposit of $25 is required to reserve your spot in each clinic. Please view our website at for a full list of courses or to register. To view our the full Cal South Coaching Education department course schedule for Spring/Summer, please click here.

Not sure what license level is right for you? Click here for a description of each license level Cal South has to offer. Please also keep in mind it is mandatory that all recreational coaches hold at least a YM1 or YM3 level license when coaching a Cal South team.

Cal South R9 Referee Instructor Course Announced
Want to be a Certified Cal South Referee Instructor? Join Us on May 24th!

For any interested Directors of Referees in any sanctioned Recreational League, Cal South will be hosting an R9 Referee Instructor Course on May 24, 2008 from 9am to 5pm at the Cal South Corporate Office. This course is for an excellent opportunity for Cal South Recreational programs to develop and train their own R9 Referee Instructors. Application to this event and reservations to attend are required and all applications must be received by May 19. The cost of the course, with materials, is $35.00. For more information or to register, please click here.

Tournament Applications Due April 30th!
Avoid Late Fees and Problems By Getting Yours In ASAP!

Cal South Tournament Applications are due in the Corporate Office by April 30th. Now is the time to get your league's tournament application in, so it leaves everyone plenty of time to correct any errors that may pop up. The Cal South Board of Directors will review all applications at the May and June Board Meetings. For more information on the process, click here or contact Brandy Buell at

Heading to a Tournament? Is It Sanctioned by Cal South?
If not, then you need travel papers!
Does the tournament you are looking to attend carry the seal of quality, the Cal South Sanctioned Tournament seal? Even though a tournament or event takes place within the Cal South boundaries, it may not necessarily be sanctioned by Cal South. To find out if the event you are planning to attend is a Cal South Sanctioned Tournament, please click here. If you don't see your event on our Sanctioned Tournament listings, then you will need to apply for travel papers in order to prove that all players are covered by our insurance. Information and instructions on travel papers can be found by clicking here or you can contact our office at for more information.

Traveling out of the country as a Cal South team or group?
Per the USSF, you need to apply for foreign travel papers at least 30 days prior to your departure

It's not as scary as it sounds. Just log in and apply for Cal South travel papers, then fill out the appropriate USSF forms and mail them to the office along with a $50 check made out to USSF. We will then approve your paperwork and forward it on to USSF for their approval. Information and instructions can be found by clicking here.

Risk Management Policy: A Reminder on Card Printing
All administrators MUST complete the Live Scan process; this includes coaches, managers, team parents, board members and tournament directors. A card can NOT be printed until the Corporate Office has received approval from the Department of Justice. The process can take up to 14 business days to complete. If you log into your CORIS account and see an R with a red circle around it, please contact Lisa Wolfs, Risk Management Coordinator, at 714.451.1520 or here for more information on getting your LiveScan done or on hosting an upcoming session. Cal South will be hosting coaching classes and Risk Management sessions throughout the summer. Check with Cal South in early May to sign up for both types of sessions so you may get them done at the same time.

Registrars: Migrate Your Teams For Gaming Circuit Play
CORIS Updating Vital to Providing Smooth Registration Process

If your registered teams are planning to play in a 2008 Cal South Sanctioned Gaming Circuit, please remember to migrate your teams to the Fall 2008-2009 season once your league of registration has been approved. This will simplify the CORIS-based team registration process for your head coaches and team managers wishing to register their teams for one of the following fall gaming circuits: Central Coast Soccer League, Bakersfield Gaming League (Bakersfield Girls SL/Golden Empire SL), Presidio Soccer League and the Los Angeles Fútbol Circuit. These gaming circuits utilize the ADG CORIS online registration system. This does not impact Coast Soccer League teams, since CSL does not utilize CORIS.

Registrars: Do Your League Administrators Have Their Logon Information?
Providing Usernames and Passwords Helps Keep Everybody Current
Please be sure to provide your new board members, coaches and team managers with their Cal South Account Member Logon usernames and passwords. This will allow our new members and existing users to update their contact information and other benefits in CORIS. In addition, keeping the most current information in CORIS ensures that all Cal South members receive Cal South Soccer Magazine and other important member mailings or email correspondence.
