Cal South Unveils News Member I.D. Cards
Registrars Can Now Upload and Easily Print Player Photos on Cards
In an effort to make the easy identification of players and coaches a more fluid process, Cal South recently announced several changes to its Membership Identification Cards for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. Outside of the basic redesign of the cards, the biggest change is the ability for league-certified registrars to upload player photos into CORIS, the Cal South Online Registration Information System. Registrars can then print the photos onto the cards.

Each Member I.D. and Member Pass (the portion of the Member I.D. that is officially used by coaches at games) must have a photo on it, and all photos must appear on the front face of the card. Another significant change is that players are no longer required to record their signature on their Member Passes. There is now no requirement for a signature on each card other than that of the league-certified registrar. To read a list of frequently asked questions regarding the new Cal South Membership Identification Card, including distribution dates and proper utilization, please click here.

Memo from US Youth Soccer:
990-N New IRS Filing Requirements for Smaller Tax-Exempt Organizations
Up until recently, only larger charitable, tax-exempt organizations (organizations with annual gross receipts of more than $25,000), have had to file an annual report-Form 990 or Form 990-EZ-with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Now, tax-exempt organizations (generally those organizations having a section 501(c)(3) tax-exemption) normally having annual gross receipts of $25,000 or less have to file a new annual form with the IRS.

The new form is Form 990-N and is also called the "e-Postcard" because it is required to be filed electronically. A tax-exempt organization is required to file Form 990-N for tax years ending on or after December 31, 2007. The Form must be filed not later than the 15th day of the 5th month after the close of the tax year for the organization. For example, if the organization's tax year (or fiscal year) ends on September 30th of each year, then the organization must file its Form 990-N by no later than February 15th of the following year. While the Form 990-N requirements apply to all tax-exemption organizations with the lesser amount of annual gross receipts. It's important to note that if an organization fails to file Form 990-N for 3 consecutive years, the organization automatically loses its tax-exempt status.

How To File Form 990-N:
To file the e-Postcard, access the filing site directly by typing or pasting the following address into your Internet browser: http://epostcard.form990.org. When you access the system, you will leave the IRS site and file the e-Postcard with the IRS through their trusted partner, Urban Institute. The form must be completed and filed electronically. There is no paper form.
