Date and Location Announced for 2008 Cal South Presidents' Summit
June 28th, 1:30 pm at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA
The 2008 Cal South Presidents' Summit will be held on Saturday, June 28 at the Home Depot Center in Carson. The Summit will begin in the afternoon around 1:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception and special seating for the Chivas game vs. the New York Red Bulls. The Summit format is more compact for 2008 and will have lots of solid information on club and league management topics.
Cal South will have two seats set aside for each league or club. Each league or club should plan to send two of their top representatives, if possible, to the Summit. Look for more on the Presidents' Summit over the next couple of weeks, but make sure to mark your calendar and please set aside the afternoon of Saturday, June 28th.
Cal South Donates $210,000 to Its Far West Regional-Bound Teams
Championship Dreams Fortified by $5000 to Each of 42 Teams
As they have for several years now, Cal South will be donating $5000 to each of the 42 teams attending the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals, to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, from June 16-22, 2008. All told, this makes a record total of $210,000 from Cal South given to assist these teams with their travel and team expenses. The 42 teams are comprised of the 16 National Cup champions and 26
wild card teams, who will all serve as Cal South's representatives at the Regional competition.
Eight of the 26 wild card teams earned their spots based on their success in the 2008 spring season of the Far West Regional League, while ten additional teams earned theirs in the fall 2007 season. The other eight wild card teams were chosen through the Region IV draw process. One of the teams chosen as a Far West Regional League wild card in the fall, the GU15 So Cal Blues, simultaneously secured a spot in the US Youth Soccer National Championships already by
placing second in their bracket in this year's inaugural season of the US Youth Soccer National League. 39 of the 42 teams have been named so far, while the other three -- the two championship teams and one wild card -- will be determined in this weekend's U19 finals action on Sunday, June 8 in Chino.

Cal South Unveils News Member I.D. Cards Registrars Can Now Upload and Easily Print Player Photos on Cards
In an effort to make the easy identification of players and coaches a more fluid process, Cal South recently announced several changes to its Membership Identification Cards for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. Outside of the basic redesign of the cards, the biggest change is the ability for league-certified registrars to upload player photos into CORIS, the Cal South Online Registration Information System. Registrars can then print the photos
onto the cards.
Each Member I.D. and Member Pass (the portion of the Member I.D. that is officially used by coaches at games) must have a photo on it, and all photos must appear on the front face of the card. Another significant change is that players are no longer required to record their signature on their Member Passes. There is now no requirement for a signature on each card other than that of the league-certified registrar. To read a list of frequently asked questions
regarding the new Cal South Membership Identification Card, including distribution dates and proper utilization, please click here.
