Cal South Appoints New State Youth Referee Administrator
Larry Yee Officially Named to SYRA Post at 2008 Presidents' Summit
After an open and exhaustive search process, Cal South formally announced the appointment of Larry Yee as the new State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA) at the 2008 Cal South Presidents' Summit on Saturday, June 28th at the Home Depot Center. The SYRA's responsibilities are nothing short of full management and oversight over all of the Cal South's referee programs, which include the R9 Recreational Referee clinics, the John Harper Referee camp, the Cal South Referee Mentor program and the Advanced Referee Development program. Additionally, the new SYRA has been challenged to bring more continuity, cooperation and increased professionalism across the entire Southern California referee landscape. "We were extremely pleased with the quality of candidates that fulfilled every aspect of what was required as part of our SYRA application process," said Cal South President Gregg Falk. "Larry's leadership skills and vision for our referee programs is what helped distinguish him as the perfect fit for the Cal South Referee programs moving forward, and we are excited to have him as our new SYRA." In the face of an ever-tightening economy, Cal South continues to provide the ultimate in member service benefits by donating the sum of $10,000 to each of its seven teams, ages U14 to U19, which will be attending the US Youth Soccer National Championships in July. $10,000 will also be given to the GU15 So Cal Blues team, which won its berth in the National Championships by placing second in its bracket in the inaugural US Youth Soccer National League season. Stay tuned to CalSouth.com for the full details in a story next week.

Dual Registration for Players is NOT Allowed
Find Out If Your Players Are Registered for Both Competitive and Recreational Play
A Cal South player CANNOT be concurrently registered to a Competitive team and a Recreational team during the fall playing season. However, there are a couple of ways to verify if a player has already been concurrently registered. First, try utilizing the Duplicate Report, which can be located under the League Reports tab in CORIS. Secondly, try using the Verify Card Feature. By simply filling in the player's last and first name, you will have access to their basic information such as DOB and team assignment, and can verify which play type they are registered under. However, if you are truly uncertain of a player's status, please contact the League Account Management department, and they will be more than happy to not only assist you further, but most importantly, they can explain what steps to take next to mitigate the problem.

Print Them, But Don't Use Them Quite Yet!
2008-09 Cal South Member Cards May Not Be Used For Competition Until July 15

As of July 1, 2008, cards are able to be printed by league registrars. However, these cards may NOT be used for any competition until July 15, 2008. On the subject of Cal South Member Cards, did you receive your new Cal South cards? If not, please contact the League Account Management department and we will make sure that we get them to you as soon as possible.

Tick-Tock! Tick-Tock! The Transfer Clock is Ticking Down!
Transfer Players Up Until July 31st at 11:59 p.m.; Roster Freeze Period in Effect on August 1st
The deadline for transfers is rapidly approaching, so make certain that the coaches and administrators in your league or club are completely aware of the deadline. Players can transfer from one team to another up until July 31st at 11:59 p.m. After that, on August 1st, the roster freeze period goes into effect. The start of the preseason roster is then in full gear, effectively placing a moratorium on any movement from one team to another. In the event that a player either desires or absolutely has to move to another team, it will require a Transfer Waiver Form, which can be easily downloaded on the Cal South Resources Downloads page.

Cal South Annual Player Registration Audit Began on July 1st
Moratorium Placed on 07-08 CORIS Applications

The start of the 2008-2009 seasonal year is only two short months away, officially beginning on September 1, 2008! In tandem with this, Cal South has already embarked on its annual player registration audit, which began on July 1, 2008. To completely fall in line with the audit process, Cal South found it necessary to place a moratorium on the ability for leagues and club to generate further player/administrator applications for the 2007-08 seasonal year. This will have a "zero" impact on the 08-09 seasonal year as well as the spring and summer '08 seasons.

A Reminder on AYSO-Crossover Players
Transfer Players Up Until July 31st at 11:59 p.m.; Roster Freeze Period in Effect on August 1st
AYSO allows teams to participate in non-AYSO tournaments with permission by travel papers - but individual players are not allowed to guest with Cal South teams. If they are to play as a guest on a team, they need to register with Cal South and be covered by our insurance.
