Cal South Board Firms Up Position on Trend Towards "Friendly" Tournaments
Any Non-League Matches in Which Fees Are Charged Require Cal South Sanctioning
The Cal South Board of Directors has determined recently that any non-league match in which fees are charged, with the exception of a mutual sharing of standard referee fees, shall be considered a tournament, and therefore will require appropriate sanctioning through Cal South. This definition will only affect tournaments that have been advertised as "friendlies." If you know of any of these non-sanctioned events, or have any concerns or questions, please contact Brandy Buell at 714.451.1559 or by email at The Tournament Manual (available online here) has been updated with the new information.

Eight Top Cal South Teams Begin Play Today at the US Youth Soccer National Championships

Cal South Donates $80,000 to Help Teams Out with Travel Expenses

Eight immensely talented teams from Cal South will take to the fields of Little Rock, Arkansas today to begin the final challenge in their quests to bring home a US Youth Soccer National Championship trophy. This year's National Championships take place from July 22-27 at the Burns Soccer Complex in North Little Rock, with preliminary round-robin matches taking place through Friday and with championship matches taking place Saturday and Sunday.

Once more, Cal South has come to the aid of its attending teams by donating $10,000 to each team. The ultimate in member benefits, this amount will help ease the financial burden of travel expenses for these teams. This makes for a grand total of $80,000 which, when added to the $210,000 given to the 42 teams that attended the Far West Regionals last month, means Cal South has donated $290,000 to its members over the last two months. Dual Registration for Players is NOT Allowed
Find Out If Your Players Are Registered for Both Competitive and Recreational Play
A Cal South player CANNOT be concurrently registered to a Competitive team and a Recreational team during the fall playing season. However, there are a couple of ways to verify if a player has already been concurrently registered. First, try utilizing the Duplicate Report, which can be located under the League Reports tab in CORIS. Secondly, try using the Verify Card Feature. By simply filling in the player's last and first name, you will have access to their basic information such as DOB and team assignment, and can verify which play type they are registered under. However, if you are truly uncertain of a player's status, please contact the League Account Management department, and they will be more than happy to not only assist you further, but most importantly, they can explain what steps to take next to mitigate the problem.

Tick-Tock! Tick-Tock! The Transfer Clock is Ticking Down!
Transfer Players Up Until July 31st at 11:59 p.m.; Roster Freeze Period in Effect on August 1st
The deadline for transfers is rapidly approaching, so make certain that the coaches and administrators in your league or club are completely aware of the deadline. Players can transfer from one team to another up until July 31st at 11:59 p.m. After that, on August 1st, the roster freeze period goes into effect. The start of the preseason roster is then in full gear, effectively placing a moratorium on any movement from one team to another. In the event that a player either desires or absolutely has to move to another team, it will require a Transfer Waiver Form, which can be easily downloaded on the Cal South Resources Downloads page.

A Reminder on AYSO-Crossover Players
