State Cup Teams Get A National Championship Series of Their Own
Inaugural US Youth Soccer Presidents Tournament to Kick Off in 2009
Cal South teams participating in the State Cup next year in the U13 to U17 age brackets can earn the opportunity to move forward to a national championship round of their own with the formation of the US Youth Soccer Presidents Tournament Series for 2009. Serving as a parallel to the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the Presidents Tournament is only open to teams not already participating in the National Championship Series.

In Southern California, the Cal South State Cup will serve as the introductory round to the Presidents Tournament Series. The champions in the U13 to U17 brackets will move forward to represent Cal South at the US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Tournament in Tri-Cities (Kennewick-Pasco-Richland), Washington in June 2009, where they will face teams from the 13 other western states that make up US Youth Soccer's Region IV. Champions at the regional level would then move on to the US Youth Soccer Presidents Tournament National Championships, tentatively scheduled to be held in Denver, Colorado from July 16-19, 2009. Two New Board Decisions: U16 Rosters May Carry Up to 22 Players
No State/National Cup Participation for FWRL Spring League Withdrawals
The most recent Cal South Board of Directors meeting, held on Saturday, November 1 at the Cal South Corporate Office, led to a pair of Board decisions concerning two areas of Cal South play:

1) Following US Youth Soccer's decision to add the U16 age group to the list of age groups that may roster a maximum of 22 players (the same as for U17 through U19), the Cal South BOD approved the change for Cal South teams immediately. This means that for Under 16 and older teams, those teams may have up to 22 youth players on their team roster at any given time during the season year. The team must demonstrate continuity of team rosters between the league and State Cup for U09 - U15 age group competition by maintaining a minimum of nine (9) players common to the rosters of both and for U16 - U19 age group competition by maintaining a minimum of eleven (11) players common to the rosters of both. Player retention shall be based on the league roster as of November 15th of the current seasonal year (except for U19 teams).

2) The BOD also adopted a rule change for State and National Cup. The following rule will be inserted in to our Cup rules: Rule: - Effective from the 2009 Far West Regional Spring league forward: any team that withdraws from the Far West Regional League after a schedule is published will not be allowed to participate in Cal South State and/or National Cup for that seasonal year.

Deadlines for State & National Cup Youngers Brackets Ahead on November 26!

If you are registering a team for the Youngers brackets, please be aware that the deadline for U12 through U13 teams in the National Cup and U9 through U13 teams in the State Cup is November 26, 2008. Have you received your membership pass for 2008-2009?
There are numerous reasons why you haven't received it yet. Most of these have to do with incorrect or missing information in the CORIS system, such as your driver's license number, your date of birth, or even your phone number. If you have yet to receive your membership pass for this season, please contact your league registrar to make sure the correct information has been. Please ask your league registrar why you have not received your card, and give them any missing information they may need to complete the process.
