Filming for Fox Soccer Channel Special at the Cal South National Cup Finals this Weekend
"Where Champions Are Born" Set to Premiere on Saturday, May 26 at 6pm
Cal South will have a film crew at this weekend's National Cup finals on Sunday, May 20th, where the matches for the four U15 and U17 final matches will be filmed for inclusion in the upcoming Fox Soccer Channel special, "Where Champions Are Born". The show, presented for the second consecutive year, is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, May 26 at 6pm. The full schedule is as follows:

The special will feature interviews with some of the winning teams at the National Cup, as well as interviews with top college coaches and participants at the Cal South College Showcase Weekend. There will also be a spotlight on the Cal South ODP team that took part in the US U-14 Training Camp last week at the Home Depot Center. Cal South encourages anyone interested in attending the filming to come on out to the Rancho Capistrano Mission Soccer Fields Sunday morning, and help to root on the competing clubs. New NCSA College Recruitment Page Launched on CalSouth.com!
As part of its partnership with the National Collegiate Scouting Association (NCSA), Cal South has launched the brand new NCSA Recruiting Corner on CalSouth.com. Loaded with new features such as monthly recruiting articles and tips, as well as listings of upcoming recruiting workshops, the NCSA Recruiting Corner can be an invaluable tool for parents in your organization who are looking for help in getting their kids looked at to play college soccer. Is your team going out of the country this summer? You need Foreign Travel Papers!
If you are traveling to play games in a tournament outside the United States, you need to fill out Foreign Travel Papers. These papers must be submitted to Cal South at least 45 days prior to your departure, and we will send them over to US Soccer Federation for their approval. Please click here to download the papers that need to be filled out and submitted.

League Registrar Certification Test:
Are you ready to test your knowledge?

n June 1st, 2007, the Certification test will be available online for all league registrars. The questions themselves are variations of multiple choice and True/False formats. The test will measure the candidate's knowledge of different concepts and usage of the CORIS system as well the Rules & Regulations. Moreover, Registrars must test out no later than August 31st, 2007. If you have any questions regarding the certification test, please do not hesitate to contact the League Account Management Department at 714 451-1513.

CORIS Migration & Working with Applications: Scrub your teams of any non-returning players.
As you complete your seasonal migration, make certain that you identify any players that will not be returning to your league. This generally applies to any competitive teams with players that are in an "assigned" status. The process of "rejecting" the player's application will permit other leagues and clubs the opportunity to register the player easily and clearly. If you have any questions regarding the migration and or the clearing of applications, please feel free to contact the League Account Management Department at 714 451-1513.

Traveling to a non-Cal South Sanctioned Tournament? You need to fill out Travel Papers!
Please visit our website to download the appropriate papers that must be completed. All that needs to be submitted is US Youth Soccer's Travel Application, the travel roster with the league registrar's signature, and the approved application to host a tournament from the tournament wishing to attend. These forms can be submitted through the mail and/or emailed to ajohnson@calsouth.com. For further information, please click here.

National Youth License Course Coming to Cal South
Do you have a National D license? Are you coaching an Under-12 team? Perhaps you should consider increasing your knowledge in structuring soccer environments for ages 4-12. You will explore the role of the facilitator and the role of the coach, the physical, mental and emotional needs and capabilities of the players resulting in a competitive advantage. Hey, Rec Leagues! Summer is approaching fast & now is the time to host a Youth Module Course!

A checklist detailing "How To Host A Youth Coaching Course" has been posted on CalSouth.com. The Sponsor must fill out a hosting form and send it to the Cal South State office at least 30 days prior to the starting date of the clinic. You can download the hosting form by clicking here.

Administrators:Do you need to get your Risk Management redone?
I
f you had your fingerprints done anytime between March 1st 2003 to December 31st 2006 and your Risk Management status in CORIS is still "SENT," you will need to get your fingerprints done again. Please click here and follow the Live Scan process as listed. If you had your fingerprints done after August 1st 2005 and the status is still "SENT," please contact Lisa Wolfs at lwolfs@calsouth.com with your full name and date of birth, or fax a copy of your Request for Live Scan to 714.441.0715. Your Registrar will only be able to print a card for you if your status says "APPROVED" in CORIS.

Registrars:Start doing your Risk Management Filters now!
C
ards may only be printed for administrators with Approved Risk Management status. In order to see who has "Sent" status, log in to CORIS. Go to Administrator Look-Up, then under "Risk Filter By" choose whichever status you would like to filter out. Leave the "Search For" field blank and hit the Search button. If your league is interested in hosting a Live Scan Session, you will need to follow these easy steps. First, fill out the Request to Host a Live Scan Session form, then fax the form to 714.441.0715, "Attn. Lisa Wolfs", or email it to lwolfs@calsouth.com. Once you get a confirmation from US Fingerprinting you are ready for the session. If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact Lisa Wolfs at 714.451.1520.

Information for the Cal South ODP Summer Camp Program is now available on our website (click here for access). We offer both residential and day camps. Leagues can take advantage of a significant discount by sending in 20 or more applications together. Or an individual team can submit 5 or more together and get a team discount. Looking for some great tournaments?
Over 30 tournaments were sanctioned by the Cal South Board of Directors at their May meeting. If you are unsure if a tournament has been sanctioned by Cal South, look for the official Cal South Sanctioned Tournament Seal, which should be on the front page of the tournament's website. Need to View Team Information But Can't Get Into CORIS?
You may need to simply have your user name and password reset. Please contact your league registrar and they will be able to reset your user name and password so you can log in. Once you are logged in you can view your team roster, personal information, and even sign up for tournaments. You can also call the office at 714.778.2972 or 888.429.7276.

League Fall Season 07-08: A quick snapshot of the billing process.
Even though the spring '07 and fall '07-'08 seasons are now open, it's important to review one very important Cal South business rule. Regardless of the season, an "accepted" player will generate an invoice. Make certain that when you click on "Save Application Changes" with the purpose of clearing player, that this is the action you want. If you have any questions regarding the clearing process or would like to know more about the billing process, please contact the League Account Management department at 714.451.1513.
