AGM VOTING BY-LAW CHANGE: Allows for 1 League delegate to cast all votes
At the November 4, 2006 Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors the Cal South Board of Directors approved an amendment to the bylaws that will allow leagues to send one (or more if desired) delegate to cast all the leagues votes at The Annual General Meeting. Go to calsouth.com / resources / bylaws and review Section 7 Voting by League Members of ARTICLE IV. MEMBERSHIP for the updated language. The intent behind the amendment is to increase league participation, although overall attendance my drop. The bylaw change will save leagues time and money by eliminating the need to find multiple delegates and potential travel costs therein. http://www.calsouth.com/youthsoccer_bylaws.htm.

BOARD ACTION: Cal South Board adopts Conflict of Interest Disclosure form
The Board of Director's took a very positive step forward this past weekend with the official approval of a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form which is to be filled out by each Cal South Board Member, Corporate Staff person and each Cal South Committee Chairperson and kept on file at the Cal South Corporate Office. The adoption of this form is yet another positive step towards ensuring absolute transparency to our membership in regard to all Cal South decisions being made. All filed forms are available for Membership view at the Cal South Corporate Office at any time during normal business hours. A sample form can be found at http://www.calsouth.com/youthsoccer_bylaws.htm . We strongly encourage all member leagues to think about the merits of putting something similar in place on the league level.

November 10, 2006 is last day for U9 to U13 teams to apply!

Just a reminder to any teams from the U9 to the U13 age brackets to get their applications in by this Friday, November 10, if you want to join in the competition at either the State or National Cup beginning this spring.

To register for State Cup, click here. To register for National Cup, click here. Use your Administration Username and Password to enter the system. Once you are in your account, go to the "Teams" section and click "Edit" for the team you want to register. Choose the Tournament tab at the top of the page, then select which tournament you would like to register your team for and fill out the application. You will need the following information for your application: team info (jersey colors), team tournament results for the past two years, U16, U17, & U19 need the graduation year, SAT scores, and GPA for each player. We look forward to seeing your team out on the pitch at the Cal South State and National Cups. Good Luck!

End of Roster Freeze Reminder: Don't leave your players out in the cold!
There's small window of opportunity for roster changes for teams entering State or National Cup. As such, league and team administrators' should be aware that the roster period ends on Monday the 27th and the cup-tied date for the Youngers (U9-U13) is Saturday , December 2nd. This simply means that a player rostered to a team that is entered in State or National Cup as of Friday December 1 is cup-tied and must play State or National Cup with the current team. However, players do not need to be transferred by December 1st, but must be released by 11:59 PM in the CORIS system prior to the draw date. For additional deadlines, please refer the State & National Cup section of the Cal South Website.

ELECTION UPDATE! 3 District Commissioners Retain Posts; District 5 Announces New DC
Each year at Cal South, several District Commissioner posts go up for election. This year, with four of those posts on the line, Cal South only received a single nominee for each district by the time the nomination deadline of October 12 rolled around. As a result, no formal election needed to be held, ballots were not sent out to the individual leagues, and the three current District Commissioners retained their positions, while a fourth stepped aside to make room for his nominated successor... www.calsouth.com.

CORIS & Seasonal Migration: Spring into Action!
Hopefully, you're now thinking or in the process of setting up your league for Spring 2007. As a seasonal process, the CORIS system simply allows you to conduct several simultaneous but independent seasons. For example, you can host a fall season and a spring season at the same time. The player, administrator, and team databases can be entirely different for each season. Rather than have to re-create the player, administrator, and team databases for each season, CORIS provides the function for migrating data from one season to another. For additional instruction, please contact the League Account Management Department at (714) 451-1513.

League V.I.P. Updates: Our version of the White Pages...
Many leagues hold elections during the fall months and invariably have a changing of the guard. As such, please help us keep our records updated so we can assure that all contact information is directed to the appropriate individuals and departments. The VIP list should include board positions including: name, address, phone number and email addresses. The updated lists should be emailed to ajohnson@calsouth.comor faxed to 714 441-0715.

ALL Administrators need to get their Live Scan done if they haven't already - NO EXCUSES!
This includes ALL Managers, Trainers, Team Parent Administrators, Assistant Coaches, and Head Coaches, Board Members, Tournament Directors and Registrars. Even if you have completed a Live Scan with another company or organization, you still need to complete a new Live Scan through Cal South and using our form. You can click here to find a location in your area that provides Live Scans. Just make sure that you take the Cal South form. You can find our form by going to Cal South.com, "Programs," "Risk Management" and print out the "Request for Live Scan Form."If you are operating in an official capacity within a Team or League (i.e. Board Member), you mustgo through the Risk Management process. If you have done your Risk Management afterMarch 1st 2003, you do NOT need to go through the process again.

New Method for Coaching Education License Certificate
Coaches no longer have to wait for the post office to deliver proof of their coaching license level (coaching certificate). The proof can now be obtained far more quickly from your league. We are all familiar with the Player and Administrator Game Pass (Member Pass) printed on the snazzy Cal South card stock. Well, there is a second perforated half to each Member Pass called the Member ID Card. In the past, round-filing this half was practiced, but now, every coach should have this in their wallet as a proof of their coaching license level (coaching certificate), Kidsafe status, proof of registration and insurance, and for CORIS access. If you are looking for your proof of coaching license level, it's as close as your league of registration! Brilliant!
