FRIENDLY REMINDER:
Administrators please have your League/Club Registrars input you into CORIS when completing a Live Scan. This allows us to update your information so your Member Pass can be printed in a more timely fashion.

----------------------------------

THE SOCCER SEASON IS UPON US:
Are you in need of a coaching license?
Please visit our website at calsouth.com for a list of upcoming coaching courses. There is still time, register online. Get it done and remember to have fun.

----------------------------------

UNDERSTANDING "RELEASE" STATUS:
(Scenario): You have just released a player due to an unfortunate injury very early in the season. However, miraculously, the player recovers much sooner than anticipated. Will this player be required to transfer back to the team? Absolutely. The player must be transferred back to the team via the traditional release and transfer form or waiver if it's during the roster freeze period.

----------------------------------

REGISTRAR ALERT:
What do we do with our "Yellows"?
Dissemination of Player Registration Copies (Registration/Medical Release Forms):
Due to the recent advent of "online" registration, it has come to our attention that leagues are uncertain as what to do with the yellow and pink copies of registration/medical release forms. As such, we have outlined a few essentials for leagues that make use of "Parental Online" registration, as opposed to the leagues that use CORIS as a data management tool. It's quite simple: if your league is utilizing "Parental Online" registration, there is absolutely no need to submit any copies of the medical release form to the corporate office, as the ELA's (Electronic Legal Agreements) are stored electronically. However if your league is not using "Parental Online" registration, then the process differs somewhat. The copy that has "Cal South" (Yellow Form) at the bottom of the form must be sent to the corporate office. If a downloadable version such as a PDF was used, please remit a copy of that as well. Moreover, in order to help you facilitate and comply with the process and to allow for an adequate amount of time to gather and organize the "yellows," we have determined the end of December 2006 to be a suitable submission deadline for fall registration paperwork. Additionally, please make sure to organize the forms smartly by placing them in team order or something sensibly comparable.

----------------------------------

New Method for Coaching Education License Certificate:
Coaches no longer have to wait for the post office to deliver proof of their coaching license level (coaching certificate). The proof can now be obtained quicker from your league registrar. We are all familiar with the Player and Administrator Game Pass (Member Pass) printed on the snazzy Cal South cardstock. There is a second perforated half to the Member Pass called the Member ID Card. Every coach should have this in their wallet as their proof of coaching license level (coaching certificate), Kidsafe status, proof of registration & insurance, and CORIS access.

----------------------------------

CORIS/FALL PLAYING SEASON:
Has your league completed and entered all players into CORIS?
HARD FACT:
All leagues with a fall playing season must have all player registration data entered and "Accepted" into CORIS by September 1st or at least one week prior to the first regularly scheduled games. Failure to comply with the following terms of service may be penalized.

Why is this important you may ask? Let us examine one important factor such as liability. You do not have to try dissect it or interpret the term to understand that it is crucial that you follow through with the registration process. That is, get your data entered and your players "Accepted" and placed onto teams. The process does not stop there either. Make sure to activate your teams so the business rules are applied. Just because you run a recreational program does not preclude you from the rule either. It must be completed timely and accurately by all leagues of registration!

----------------------------------

06/07 Field Liability Insurance Certificates are now available through ecerts-online.
The new e-certs program couldn't be any easier! Where to go? No problem… the first thing you need to do is log on to the Cal South website at www.calsouth.com and then simply select "Programs," followed by "Insurance," and then "Liability Insurance." If this is your first visit to the site, click on the "Tutorial" link. The tutorial will cover the basics, and within two minutes or so you should be ready to go, but if not, you can certainly watch it all over again until you're absolutely ready to go full throttle. What is my User ID and Password? Check with your League President for access permission. How will my league be billed? A $35.00 per interest processing fee will reflect on a monthly bill in the same manner as the player registration invoice that your league currently receives. All questions should be directed to Nancy Wagner at nwagner@calsouth.com or at (714) 451-1550.

----------------------------------

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Transfer Roster Freeze is in effect as of August 1st:
Team rosters have been frozen since August 1st to all but new players. Requests for waivers during the Roster Freeze period will be reviewed by the appropriate District Commissioner and granted only under limited circumstances. Please see the recently updated Cal South Rule 1.4.3 for further clarification.

----------------------------------

Transferring Teams?
Prior to being added as a new player on a different team/league, please ensure that your League Registrar performs a global search as a safeguard. This can be done by simply entering first and last name under the "ID Cards" section in CORIS. This will help prevent any duplication of registration.

----------------------------------

DID YOU KNOW…
that $1.50 of every player registration helps fund the Cal South Field Development Foundation?

The Cal South Field Development Foundation exists to help your league build & improve youth soccer fields through Capital and Equipment Grants.
Another great benefit of membership to Cal South is our ongoing dedication to helping our Member Leagues with field and facility initiatives. We realize that fields and access to fields are a huge issue for all of our Member Leagues, and to this end, the Cal South Field Development Foundation has already granted over $400,000 in grants to Cal South Member Leagues. If you are not taking advantage of this great benefit, please click here for more information, and get the process started today!
