CAL SOUTH DONATES $218,700 TO AFFILIATE MEMBER TEAMS BOUND FOR REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS
June 11, 2013 (Fullerton, CA) - The Cal South Board of Directors has announced that the organization will provide $218,700 in subsidies and entry fee payments to its Affiliate Member teams, youth and adult, advancing to regional competition events this summer. The subsidies are intended to help ease the burden of traveling expenses for these teams in attending the events.
Cal South will donate subsidies to 54 teams attending several regional competitions taking place in June, including the US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup in Boise, Idaho (June 12-16), the US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii (June 17-23), the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) Region IV National Cup (held in Seattle last weekend, June 7-9) and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (ongoing in numerous locations).
The breakdown of the subsidies per team is as follows:
In addition to the team subsidies, Cal South will pay the total of $32,200 in entry fees for its teams attending these regional events. This amount brings the total amount of donations from Cal South up to $218,700.
"We are proud of the hard work and effort these talented teams have shown in reaching the regional championships," said Cal South President, John Mullen. "On behalf of our Board of Directors and our entire Cal South family, we wish them continued success in their pursuit of a national championship title."
The annual Cal South team subsidies are discretionary in nature and based upon the success and affiliate member support of Cal South's State Cup and National Cup events. Teams that successfully advance from these regional events will earn their spots at either the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park, Kansas, the 2013 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup in Auburndale, Florida, and the 2013 USASA National Cups Finals in San Antonio, Texas. All three championship events will be held in July.
