|John Mullen | Cal South President|
|Like most volunteers, John Mullen's interest in soccer started when his oldest daughter started playing at age 6. He and his wife, Donna, enjoyed watching their two daughters play recreational soccer, competitive soccer, high school soccer, and finally college soccer. They miss seeing
their daughters play, but have stayed involved in the sport ever since.
John started his involvement in youth soccer almost 30 years ago as an assistant coach, and then became a team coach. He soon found out that his kids could play better than he could coach. At that time, John also started playing soccer in the local adult leagues, where he quickly found out how much he didn't know about the game.
Fortunately, he did learn a little bit in his ten-year playing career. He also refereed for several years. John served as a Vice President and then President of Scripps Ranch Soccer, held the same two offices for the Presidio League, and also did the VP to President duty for San Diego Surf Soccer. John has also served on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Surf Cup.
John Mullen served as the Cal South District 2 Commissioner from 2006 until he was named as Cal South President in early 2013. He is now a retired business executive, and spends a lot of his time working to help Cal South provide the best soccer experience possible for our players in the sport that he loves.
