Euro 2008: Trends & Changes
Saturday’s first session is at 11:00 am and will be a lively discussion of the trends and changes that will come from Euro 2008. A review of game strategies and tactics of the best teams in Euro 2008 and their projected impact on Euro 2009 and the 2010 World Cup will be the focus of this session. Moderating the discussion will be Robin Russell. Russell, the long time FA Technical Coordinator, is a keen observer of the game in Europe and is a regular contributor to UEFA coaching education initiatives. The panel will provide global points of view. Lawrie Sanchez has intimate and very personal knowledge of Euro 2008 having lead the Northern Ireland squad as head coach in their qualifying efforts. He knows what it takes to beat the best as Northern Ireland defeated eventual Euro 2008 winner Spain in a qualifying match. NSCAA director of coaching development Jeff Tipping is an expert at breaking the game down and presenting it in clear and concise terms. Rene Miramontes is a veteran member of US Soccer's coaching staff. His wide perspective on the game was developed working with US National Team Coach Steve Sampson and Bora Milutinovic, the only coach to head up the efforts of five different countries in World Cup play. Participants in this session will know why the top teams succeeded in Euro 2008 and what to look for in the next two years at the top level of international competition.

The Future is Female: Developing American Players
At 2:00 pm on Saturday, the most decorated coach in women’s coaching, Anson Dorrance, will stake the claim the women are the future of soccer and that aggressive development of American women players is key to the continued success of U.S. soccer. Dorrance is the unchallenged expert on women in soccer having been head coach of the U.S Women’s National that claimed the first women’s World Cup in 1991. The 2008 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee has dominated college soccer at University of North Carolina where his clubs have claimed 18 out of the 25 NCAA championships. Dorrance knows the women’s game and believes that the growth of soccer hinges on increasing both the numbers of female players and their skill level. If you coach girls or have a daughter who plays, the insights of a coach who has helped develop Michelle Akers, Brandi Chastain, Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy, April Heinrichs, Kristine Lilly and the rest of the U.S. women’s who’s who of soccer will provide guidance and inspiration.

Youth Development Panel Discussion
Youth soccer coaches can’t miss the final Saturday VIP session. The 3:30 pm session brings together coaches with long experience in getting the most out of youth players. The Youth Development panel discussion will be moderated by Rene Miramontes. Miramontes knows youth development and has perspectives on how it fits into the total game through nearly three decades of coaching at all levels of the game. Miramontes has coached club, high school, college, ODP and Olympic levels and will help lead a discussion on how youth development leads into all levels of the game. Panelist Tosh Farrell, returning to Soccer Nation Expo for the fourth time, is lauded by many as the best youth coach in the UK. His work with Everton’s academy and instruction in The Everton Way has caused Irish Football Association chief executive Howard Wells to state that Tosh “is one of the most inspirational coaches of young players I have seen." The NSCAA’s Jeff Tipping and former Fulham head coach Lawrie Sanchez add their expertise and opinions on how youth development will evolve over the next few years and the impact it will have on club soccer.

Panel DIscussion on the Women's Game
Sunday’s 1:00 pm VIP session might as well be an NCAA Final. The head coaches of multi-year finalist UCLA and 2007 champion USC, will be joined by the head coach of the LA Sol to break down the women’s game. Coaching women is different and UCLA’s Jillian Ellis, Ali Khosroshahin of USC and Abner Rogers will tell you why it is and what you can do about it as a coach. Motivation, training, game strategy and tactics that are best suited for women as well as what’s on the horizon will be explored and dissected. NSCAA director of coaching development leads the discussion.
